How does one even aquire a word like "flollop"? Google is giving me no answers. Are you the modern day Shakespeare, making words up and stuff?

I wish I could claim flollop! I picked it up off my mum, assuming it was some kind of cockney notion she'd picked up from her mum, and have used it throughout my life assuming it was a real word. That is, until Chris was surprised to hear me use it, pointing out that it's a niche verb from the Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy, referring to the way that the swamp-dwelling Mattress species languidly thuds about. https://alienencyclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Flollop

"Love at first flollop" is what we all seek in a sofa – what a good phrase! I've got one that's a bit like that; the other is a let-down!

Thanks, Wendy! "Flollop" was a well-worn phrase in my household growing up, but I just recently learned that it stems from Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers' Guide trilogy. The more you know, ey.

I hadn't read this when making my comment. It's funny because I immediately knew what it meant, because it refers to being ungainful, and the word is pretty ungainful to say haha. Great word though.
